A Letter to the Editor- April 7, 2003 Freedom Endures It is a matter of loyalty to our democracy and to our troops and families now as we venture upon perhaps some of the most dangerous days ahead in the war: entering into Baghdad. It is time to support our troops now unconditionally. Their willingness to pay the ultimate price for us to live freely and participate in this democracy must count for something . They do not need one American who decides to protest and block traffic and waste energy lying dead on the cement to cause them to falter or second-guess now. Take that awesome energy and do something for a member of our military or his or her family today. We challenge you. They need their morale kept as high as possible. We are at war. I appeal to the conscience of every American now. Show some courage and support our men and women in uniform without conditions. We all want peace. Some of us just realize that peace and freedoms may come at a price. For my child to sleep safely at night, the price is worth it and for that I am in deep gratitude to our troops -- our friends and family -- who are making sure that can happen for all our children. Freedom endures. A.Kellermann Pittsburgh Post Gazette
